1. What are the printers? Definition of Printers.

Printers can be simply defined as a device that accepts text and graphics output from your computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper.
                                             OR
A printer is an external device.
It takes the electronic data stored on a computer or other device and then generates a hard copy of it.
 Example: If you created a report on your computer you could print several copies to hand out at the staff meeting.

So we can proclaim that  Johannes Gutenberg is the father of the birth father of printers.

Johannes Gutenberg.

  • He was born near 1400.
  • He was a German blacksmith, goldsmith, printer, and publisher who introduced printing to Europe with the printing press and then to the whole globe.
  • His introduction of mechanical movable types printing to Europe started Printing revolution and is regarded as a milestone of the second millennium.
  • He left this world on 3-February-1468.

4. How does Inject Printer work?

  • An Inject printer is any printer that places extremely small droplets of the ink onto paper to create an image.
  • If you ever look at a printed piece of paper that has come out of an inject printer, you should be known to following:
  • The dots are extremely small (between 50 and 60 microns in diameter), smalled then human hair.
  • The dots are positioned very precisely and closely that it is very hard to make difference.
  • The dots can have different colors combined together to create photo quality images.
  • Inject printers, use a series of nozzles to spray drops of ink directly on the paper.

  • Paper Feed Assembly includes Paper tray, Rollers, Paper feed stepper motor, Power supply, Control circuitryInterface port.
  • The thermal bubble is the commonly used technology used by brands like Canon and Hewlett. This is also known as bubble jet.
  • In this, tiny resistors create heat, and this heat vaporizes ink to create a bubble.
  • As the bubble expands, some of the ink is pushed out of a nozzle onto a paper.
  • When the bubble "pops" a vacuum is created.
  • This pulls more ink into the print head from the cartridge.
  • A typical bubble jet print head has 300 or 600 tiny nozzles, and all of them can fire a droplet simultaneously.

5. Types of Printer.

Types of printers can be further divided into 2 parts:→ Impact Printer.
                 :→ Non-Impact Printer.

➧Impact Printers.

1. Dot-Matrix Printers.
  • The dot-matrix printer uses print heads containing from 9 to 24 pins.
  • These pins produce patterns of dots on the paper to form the individual characters.
  • The 24 pins dot-matrix printer, which results in much better quality and clearer characters.
2. Daisy-wheel printers:
  • In order to get the quality of type found on typewriters, a daisy-wheel impact printer can be used.
  • It is called a daisy-wheel impact printer because the print mechanism looks like a daisy; at the each "petal" is a fully formed character which produces a solid-line print.
3. Line printer. 
  • In a business where an enormous amount of material is printed, the character-at-a-time printer is too slow; therefore, these users need line-at-a-time printers.

➧Non-Impact Printers.

1. Ink-jet printers.
  • Ink-jet printers work in the same fashion as dot-matrix printers in the form images or characters with little dots.
  • However, the dots are formed by tiny droplets of ink.
  • Ink-jet printers form characters on paper by spraying ink from tiny nozzles through an electrical field that arranges the charged ink particles into characters at the rate of approximately 250 characters per second.
  • The ink is absorbed into the paper and dries instantly.
  • Various colors it can also be used.
2. Laser Printers.
  • It works like a photocopy machine.
  • Laser printers produce images on paper by directing a laser beam at a mirror which bounces the beam at a mirror which bounces the beam onto a drum.
  • The drum has a special coating on it to which toner sticks.
  • Using patterns of small dots, a laser beam conveys information from the computer to a positively charged frum to become neutralized.

Ink bleeding, ink carried sideways causing blurred effects on some papers.
5. No warm-up time.
Printing speed is not as fast as laser printers
6.Quieter than dot matrix printer.
Aqueous ink is sensitive to water.
7. Capable of printing vivid color, good for printing pictures.
Cannot use highlighter maker in injecting printouts.
